The LG V30 might be one of the more compelling smartphone options in the latter half of 2017, but it is not only because of the powerful specs – the phone also has its multimedia prowess to thank for its warm reception at IFA 2017. Thanks to an Android developer, however, G6 owners can play with a bit of that prowess with the V30’s ported camera app, though there are a few things to consider.
The port, accomplished by Android developer xpirt, is a free download and introduces most of the V30’s camera features to G6 owners. We say “most” because the V30’s Cine Mode does not make the cut, but since the mode is hardware-dependent, it will not work on the G6.
It is a shame because Cine Mode helps the V30 stand apart from the rest. To provide a bit of context, Cine Mode lets you add movie-grade hues to your videos and produce the scene you want, while the mode’s Point Zoom feature lets you zoom into any part of the frame rather than zoom in and then pan the camera to your subject.
